NC Museum of Art Division Information: The North Carolina Museum of Art is a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The statutory purpose of the museum us to acquire, preserve and exhibit works of art of the education and enjoyment of the people of the State, and to conduct programs of education, research and publication designed to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of art on the part of the people of the state. The state's art collection spans more than 5,000 years, from ancient Egypt to the present, making it one of the premier art museums in the Southeast. With a 164-acre campus, the museum also has the distinction of being the nations' largest art museum park with an extensive trail system that connects to the 63-mile Capital Area Greenway through the City of Raleigh. Facilities located within the park include two main museum buildings, a large outdoor performing arts facility / amphitheater, parking lots, bike trails and greenways. Description of Work: This posting is being used to fill current and anticipated vacant Park Ranger I positions for the Museum of Art. Positions will serve as field level law enforcement officers with full authority to provide law enforcement services and security for the buildings and 164-acre campus at the North Carolina Museum of Art that includes the Museum Park. Duties include but are not limited to: Ensuring visitor protection and safety Protection and security of art objects located with the Museum Park boundaries Enforcing Museum Park rules and State laws through warnings, citations and arrests Conducting parking lot, campus and trail patrols via vehicle and / or foot Responding to safety or law enforcement issues in the Museum Park and other campus locations Recognizing emergency situations and taking appropriate action to resolve them Coordinating with local, State or Federal agencies as necessary Investigating motor vehicle accidents, criminal violations, interviewing victims and suspected offenders and testifying in court.
