    Vehicle/Equipment Operator II Salary $31,200.00 - $48,058.00 Annually Location Wake County, NC Job Type Permanent Full-Time Department Dept of Public Safety Job Number 19-60076725 Closing 1/9/2019 5:00 PM Eastern Description of Work This position is located at the North Carolina Correction Enterprise Apex Warehouse in Apex, NC. This position operates a tractor/trailer for extended periods of time in various weather and traffic conditions in a safe and efficient manner following applicable state and federal guidelines. The employee must supervise as well as physically handle the loading/unloading of trailers. The employee must handle delivery/pick-up items and ensure that they are damage free and accurate in number and type of product. The employee must have the ability to read and comprehend delivery/pick-up paperwork. The employee must effectively communicate with staff, inmates and customers. The employee must have the ability to handle "in the field" problems or complaints and/or refer to the appropriate parties for reconciliation. The employee must maintain security of tractor/trailer as well as cargo. The employee must ensure cargo is delivered in a timely fashion. The employee must have the ability to move in excess of 100lbs of force occasionally. In addition, the employee must maintain a valid Class "A" CDL with HAZMAT endorsements. Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following: Must possess a Class "A" CDL with HAZMAT endorsement. Must demonstrate prior experience operating equipment associated with loading/unloading trucks including but not limited to: forklifts, electric lifts, pallet jacks, load locks, etc. Must have the ability to carry out oral and written instructions. Must have the ability to identify and resolve potential safety problems and unsafe work practices. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
