    Administrative Specialist I Salary $30,280.00 - $48,058.00 Annually Location Columbus County, NC Job Type Permanent Full-Time Department Dept of Public Safety Job Number 18-14188 Closing 1/18/2019 5:00 PM Eastern Description of Work This position is located at the Correction Enterprises Tabor City Sewing & Cutting Plant in Tabor City, NC. This position must supervise and train inmates in all aspects of the clerical duties required at the Tabor Sewing & Cutting Plant. This position must effectively communicate with other staff, the general public, and other Correction Enterprise personnel in verbal and written form, utilizing the existing communication systems to convey information, instructions, and directions. This position must effectively and accurately operate various office equipment such as computer, typewriters, telephone systems, calculators, FAX machines, and copy machines. The employee will develop, establish and maintain a detailed filing system in chronological order or by subject matter that allows for easy access and retrieval when information is required. The employee must have the ability to compose reports and letters utilizing proper grammar and spelling, as well as the ability to utilize technical and specialized vocabularies on varying subject matters. The employee must have the ability to perform physical inventories of raw materials and finished products. The employee must have the ability to effectively monitor Enterprise warehouse inventory levels and daily reports with emphasis on proper usage, abuses and compliance with fiscal guidelines. The employee must have the ability to work with minimum supervision under stressful conditions and meets urgent deadlines with minimal error. The employee must have the ability to review service contracts for content, accuracy and compliance with departmental policy. The employee must have the ability to effectively direct and supervise the mail operation of a plant with emphasis on receipt, review, and proper distribution in a timely manner. The employee must have the ability to effectively monitor state telephone operation and reports with emphasis on proper usage, abuses, and compliance with fiscal guidelines. Must be able to lift 20 lbs periodically. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Listed below are the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) associated with the position. MANAGEMENT PREFERENCE: Management will give preference to applicants who have experience preparing requisitions through the State Accounting System (NCAS) , E-Procurement, and/or maintenance of raw material and finished goods inventories. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
