We are currently recruiting for a Health Care Technician II that will function as a Emergency Management Technician (EMT) at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Transportation Unit. The primary purpose of this position is to provide regular and emergency transportation and escort services to clients of Central Regional Hospital. Job duties include: Ensuring patients are dressed appropriately for clinic appointments. Ensure outside appointment packets have the appropriate information and it accompanies patient on the appointment. Observe and monitor patients' physical and psychological condition during trips. Report and document significant observations. Interact therapeutically with patients during escort/transport. Collaborate with unit staff to ensure patient arrives timely for appointments. Ensures proper hand-off communication per hospital policy and procedure. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration with unit team members and EMT peers. Informs EMT Lead of any concerns related to transportation vehicles and clinical appointments. Responds according to scope of practice (CNA, TSS, Emergency Medical Technician). Demonstrates concern and courtesy for internal and external customer. Demonstrates respect for individual and cultural differences. Identifies the needs of the internal and external customers and responds appropriately. This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., 40 hours a week; with on-call, weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. This position is considered essential and employees will be expected to work during adverse weather events. Demonstrated ability to obtain and maintain NA I certification by the North Carolina Division of Health Services Regulation. However, certification must be obtained and employee must pass all facility required training as a condition of employment.) Demonstrated ability to obtain and maintain NVCI (Non-violent Crisis Intervention) and CPR certification. (Please note: Training will be offered by the hospital. Employee must pass all facility required training as a condition of employment ) Requires a valid driver's license. Good judgment, leadership and customer service skills are required. Working knowledge of common physical and mental diseases of psychiatric patients. Working knowledge of emergency medical techniques of an approved Emergency Medical Technician program. Demonstrated skills in non-professional nursing care tasks (as defined by NA I/II role of North Carolina). Work experience demonstrating skills in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Techniques and First Aid. Demonstrated ability to complete documentation required by the facility, especially related to trip information. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Condition for Continued Employment: As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
