    Correctional Food Service Officer I Salary $32,703.00 - $51,904.00 Annually Location Tyrrell County, NC Job Type Permanent Full-Time Department Dept of Public Safety Job Number 18-14260 Closing 1/7/2019 5:00 PM Eastern Description of Work Anticipated Vacancy: This position is located at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm, Tyrrell County Columbia, NC a minimum custody male facility. Employees perform first-line supervisory work in large-scale food production and food service operations in a correctional facility. Work requires a dual role of custody and food production training. Employees provide supervision and custody of inmates in their assigned food preparation and food service work areas. Employees oversee inmate workers engaged in a variety of activities in food production including cooking, baking, and serving of food to the inmate population. Work includes training inmates in the arts of institutional cooking, baking, and serving; maintaining standards of sanitation in all areas of the kitchen; and performing storage responsibilities. Employees are responsible for the quality of work performed by the inmates. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Correctional Food Service Manager, and is evaluated daily for quality of food service and sanitary conditions.. These KSAs , along with the minimum education and experience listed, are required in order to be deemed "eligible" for the position. Documented knowledge of large scale food production and food service activities Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. Supplemental and Contact Information The N.C.
