Position Summary The Substitute Teacher – Professional provides high-quality instructional supervision and support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher at Central Christian School. This role is designed for individuals holding a bachelor’s degree or higher and may be utilized for short-term, extended, or long-term substitute assignments. Professional Substitute Teachers are expected to maintain instructional continuity, classroom order, and a Christ-centered learning environment in alignment with CCS mission and values.

Core Responsibilities
Instructional Support & Classroom Continuity
Deliver lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher or administration
Maintain instructional momentum and classroom routines during teacher absences
Provide clear directions and academic support to students as appropriate
Classroom Management & Student Supervision
Establish and maintain a respectful, safe, and orderly classroom environment
Follow school behavior expectations and classroom procedures
Report behavioral or safety concerns to the appropriate administrator
Professional Conduct & Compliance
Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
Accurately document attendance, incidents, or instructional notes as required
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate with administrators and support staff regarding classroom needs or concerns
Provide feedback or notes regarding instructional progress when requested
Support smooth classroom transitions before and after assignments
Role Boundaries & Authority
Provides instructional supervision and support during assigned substitute periods
Does not modify curriculum, grading policies, or instructional standards
Does not independently discipline students beyond classroom management expectations
Escalates concerns outside role scope to administration
Assignment Types
Professional Substitute Teachers may be assigned to:
Daily substitute coverage
Multi-day or extended substitute assignments
Long-term substitute placements when approved
Work Schedule & Availability
Work schedule is flexible and based on substitute needs. Assignments may vary by grade level, subject area, and duration.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Ability to support the mission and values of Central Christian School
Strong classroom presence and communication skills
Preferred:
Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience
Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
