TITLE: BLM SURVEY TECHNICIAN INDIVIDUAL PLACEMENT (3 POSITIONS)

SOUTHWEST CONSERVATION CORPS’ MISSION
It is the mission of the Southwest Conservation Corps to empower individuals to positively impact their lives, their communities and the environment.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Burearu of Land Management (BLM) manages public lands to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Pike and San Isabel National Forest and Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands (PSICC) Boundary Program managed through a service first agreement with the BLM is responsible for identifying the National Forest boundaries on the PSICC. This is done by conducting land surveys, dependent resurveys, and field investigations. Interns will work in the PSICC Boundary and Heritage programs and assist with giving information to visitors and to the Forest Service Supervisors Office in Pueblo.Work the interns provide to the Boundary Program protects natural resource by identifying National Forest boundaries so natural resource projects can be conducted. The GIS data that interns will work with is for the Heritage program that protect historic sites o the forest. The information that the interns will provide the public will direct their activities to areas that are used for specific purposes to prevent damage to natural resource son the Natioanal Forest. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant must be self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision after the initial training period. The applicant must be able to maneuver and operate in a mixture of office and field work. This can include long periods of standing or walking on rough, uneven ground, bending, crouching, and stooping. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Prior to starting this position a government security background clearance will be required.
