    Job Coach Trainer, Maintenance - Humanitarian Center, SLC, UT United States | UT-Salt Lake City ID 224380, Type: Regular Full-Time ------------ Posting Info Posting Dates: 12/20/2018 - No Closing Date Job Family: Social Services Department: Welfare Department Purposes This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by: helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items, helping members prepare for and respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church. A Job Coach supports the mission and purpose of the Welfare Department and the Division of Deseret Industries. The Job Coach plays a critical role in the training of Deseret Industries Associates and in supervising daily operational activities. The LDS Humanitarian Center Maintenance Job Coach assists in daily activities of facility and equipment maintenance. Responsibilities Critical roles for the training portion of this position include: 1) Supervise and coach up to 15 Associates. Associates may have a wide range of vocational impairments including behavioral or other disabilities or circumstances preventing them from achieving self reliance. Job Coaches are the primary daily contact and source of help for their Associates. The Job Coach works side by side with each Associate and adjusts work assignments to accommodate Associates skills, vacancies created by frequent turnover, job searches, etc. 2) Additional areas of training and development responsibilities include: a) identification of a long term vocational goal b) identification of a placement target (a job the Associate will be trained in for when they leave the Deseret Industries training program) c) dress standards d) hygiene in the workplace e) time keeping f) work ethics g) specific skills training h) coach for improvement in behavior and productivity using specific behavioral modifications techniques i) have weekly Result and Development discussions with each Associate j) maintain confidential records of current work behaviors of all Associates k) provide education, training and intervention into all verbal, physical, intimidating and harassing situations l) interact daily with management, other supervisors, and Associates from various cultures and income levels m) performance management, including evaluating each Associate on a regular and ongoing basis on acceptable work behaviors n) teach acceptable work behaviors including communication and leadership skills, honesty, reliability and following instructions o) job placement preparation to include resume writing, interview and job searching skills, communication, team building, leadership and self reliance skills p) eventual placement of the Associate in a viable, self-sustaining job in the community Critical roles for the maintenance supervision portion of this position include: 1) Ensuring that day-to-day operations run in a safe, efficient and productive fashion. 2) More specific areas of responsibility include: a) schedule work for all Associates to cover assigned maintenance needs b) teach Associates how to perform maintenance procedures as outlined in the Humanitarian Center facility plan c) order parts and supplies from outside vendors and ensure inventory is properly maintained d) oversee daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance work and schedules e) teach proper safety practices and standards and ensure understanding and compliance, including compliance with OSHA standards Qualifications · Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints currently worthy to hold a temple recommend. · Bachelors degree · At least two years experience in maintenance and mechanical work, including electrical experience and expertise with a volt/amp meter. · Demonstrated ability to: 1) Teach new tasks to others 2) Maintain a high level of quality in all work performed 3) Lead by example 4) Follow instructions, both written and verbal · Experience working with those who have a disability (physical and/or mental) or who are recovered substance abusers or those with criminal records is a plus. · Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs., to walk, stand and kneel for long periods of time, to bend, twist and climb as needed.
