Intern - Miami Turner Construction Company 292 reviews - Miami, FL 33126 Temporary, Internship Assists the estimators in the determination of the quantifications of materials incorporated in construction drawings and specifications. Reports To: Estimating Engineer, Senior Estimating Engineer, Chief Estimator or Preconstruction Manager Essential Duties & Responsibilities*: * Assist in the preparation of complete quantity take-offs and studies for all items incorporated in the project using either traditional or computer-aided programs, discussing details necessary to complete the project with the assigned estimator. * Prepare correspondence at the direction of the assigned estimator to Architects, Engineers, Vendors and Subcontractors in connection with performing their assigned trades. * Assist in the preparation of scope requisition packages. * Request and distribute subcontractor proposals relative to their scope of work to assemble proposals for any delivery system. * Assist in value analysis process which creates alternatives to the proposed scope. Coordinate, distribute and maintain project documents for assigned trades. * Visit proposed sites to review existing condition. * Assist purchasing department in procuring projects. Qualifications: Minimum of four years of college with formal engineering or architectural training or equivalent building construction experience and summer internship/co-op experience in construction highly desirable. Knowledge of general contract, subcontract documents, drawings and specifications also desirable. Must have good interpersonal and teamwork skills, desire to learn, ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing. Should be proficient with computer applications as required to perform responsibilities. A basic understanding of accounting and cost control procedures preferred.
