    Job Overview

    The Air Force Research Laboratory, Transportation Management Section (AFRL/RIOLT) seeks to hire a DO-2101-01, Transportation Specialist. The primary functions of this position are to arrange for passenger travel and the issuance and control of passports.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Plan, organize, and direct passenger travel activities for military, civilians, dependents, and contractors, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and customer needs.
    • Create itineraries and select travel modes and routes for official travel utilizing the Defense Transportation System (DTS) commercial travel software.
    • Complete travel arrangements for Permanent Change of Station (PCS) and Temporary Duty (TDY) travelers via the Gates booking systems.
    • Acts as the Certified Passport and Visa agent for the Central New York district, ensuring Passport and Visa applications adhere to strict criteria established by the Department of State, foreign travel guidance, and individual country specific standards.
    • Utilize, maintain, and reconcile the Centrally Billed Account (CBA) travel card on a monthly basis, resolving any billing issues between organization and carriers.
    • Issue accountable travel documents and perform audits of Commercial Travel Office (CTO) issued tickets to ensure the most cost-effective fares.
    • Review, analyze, and recommend modifications to the CTO contract.

    Required Qualifications

    • United States Citizenship.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
    • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov .
    • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, DU-02, GS-06, or the equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience that demonstrates a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Knowledge of policy and procedures for TDY and PCS actions.
    • Experience as a Quality Assurance Evaluator in relation to contract terms and conditions.
    • Certified Passport Agent.
    • Knowledge of overseas travel requirements.
    • Experience with computer operations and standard office software applications.
    • Knowledge of Defense Travel System (DTS).
