    POSITION PROFILE:

    Lead the identification, prioritization, and implementation of continuous improvement projects in our wood manufacturing assembly area. Develop sustainable improvements through engagement of the team utilizing servant leadership, technical knowledge, and continuous improvement tools to improve quality, productivity, and safety. Utilize lean concepts including standardized work, problem solving methodologies, material handling and planning, and kaizen activities. Implement engineering change notices and work closely with quality and product development to implement customer requests and new product lines.

    Required Skills

    • Develop lean manufacturing strategies and deploy into the work cells including but not limited to Standardized Work, Kaizen, Problem-Solving, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow, Heijunka, Jidoka, Total Productive Maintenance, etc.
    • Conduct quality reviews of scrap wood panels, process failures, and customer claims
    • Document design changes and ensure all parts and drawings are released and maintained according to the Bill of Materials
    • Initiate and implement process related improvements on production line
    • Support program financial targets and cost reduction initiatives by providing Manufacturing Engineering support during product launch and post-launch phases
    • Responsible for leading the implementation of wood process improvements and changes that ensure safety, improve product quality and reduce cost
    • Provide technical and advisory support for Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development and develop processes to maximize production throughput
    • Participate in Design for Manufacturability processes for new and existing products
    • Work with product development, quality, and manufacturing to implement engineering change notices

     

    Required Experience

    • Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineer Degree or equivalent
    • Sound understanding of and a minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques and methodologies in the areas of Standardized Work, Kaizen, Problem-Solving, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow, TPM, Jidoka, etc.
    • Knowledge of assembly processes, semi-automated and automated cells will be a plus
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and translate collected information into actionable solutions
    • Advance skill in MS Office including: MS Excel, Words, Outlook, Projects and PowerPoint
    • Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple projects
    • Must have a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering plus two (2) years of experience in a related industry position leading Kaizen implementations and lean transformations.
