PAYROLL SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO: Payroll Supervisor
SHIFT/HOURS: DAY
POSITION OVERVIEW
A Payroll Specialist will need to have the knowledge and skills to enter and process data related to payroll, including, but not limited to, uploading data from an automated time-keeping systems, Prevailing Wages, and government reporting in an accurate and timely manner.
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
· Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
· Work proficiently in Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
· Understand general payroll and/or accounting principles and record keeping functions
· Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
· Do simple math: add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals, with or without a calculator
· Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
· Deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations

TRAINING/CERTIFICATION
· Training is SAP is desired, but not required.
· Accounting background is desired.
· Computer skills including intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word.
EDUCATION
· AA degree in accounting is desired, or the equivalent of three years of experience in a related field, such as accounting, HR, or Payroll.
