About the Organization The Power Optimization Center is an advanced monitoring and diagnostics service organization within the Luminant company. Through the integration of remote monitoring, modeling, and diagnostics, the Power Optimization Center identifies, forecasts and advises plant personnel of emergent issues impacting production. About the Job (Summer Temporary Position) You will work with the Power Optimization Team to setup and deploy advanced monitoring and diagnostics services to 73 power generation units that have a combined capacity of 26,000 megawatts. This position could result in limited opportunities to extend into a cooperative assignment over the fall 2018 semester to tune and debug systems and applications as they are pressed into production. Key Roles and Responsibilities: * * Learn to identify critical assets and supporting instrumentation within each of the 73 units. * Develop digital models of the identified critical assets utilizing industry leading software solutions. * Utilize statistical analysis on prior running history to identify alarm thresholds that would identify undesirable operating conditions. * Build, train and deploy Advanced Pattern Recognition models utilizing leading edge software solutions. * Build plant thermal efficiency models based on first principle calculations utilizing industry leading software solutions. * Build Graphical User Interfaces of critical assets utilized in power generation. * Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. * Possess the ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment. Minimum Qualifications: * * Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year institution of higher education and pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Masters Degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, Statistical Science, Business or Computer Science. * Proficient in Microsoft?
