WCPC Background
WCPC has a rich history of community service and outreach in the Bay Area’s Contra Costa and Alameda counties, as well as strong support for local and global missions. We currently have vibrant children’s, student’s, men’s and women’s ministries, a large, versatile campus, and a mid-week pre-school.
Overview
The Pastor of Community and Connection serves the congregation by overseeing the Community and Connection ministries of the Church: shepherding newcomers toward belief and baptized membership in the church, and overseeing the care and leadership of Community Groups. This role focuses on both evangelism and deepening discipleship. The primary vehicles are Connections and Community Groups. The successful person in this position will be good at identifying and training leaders, organizing and motivating people, and having energetic vision for the connections and community groups ministries of the church.
Key Responsibilities
CONNECTIONS
Responsible for our newcomer assimilation strategy/process, connecting first-time guests into our congregation through a warm and inviting follow-up process including a letter of welcome. Partner with the Pastor of Christian Formation to develop materials and teaching and work with Worship Arts to receive new members in worship. Formal components include oversight of Newcomer Welcome and Hospitality and Newcomer Connection.
COMMUNITY GROUPS
Create an environment for our Community Groups (CG) to be healthy, growing and productive places of Christian Formation by providing guidance, support, training, and encouragement to Community Group Coaches and Leaders.
WORSHIP
Participate with other pastors in worship arts weekly planning meetings and lead in worship regularly, with some preaching responsibilities from time to time. (Our Lead Pastor enjoys helping aspiring pastors learn to preach.)

Hours: Full-time (40+ hours per week)
