IT Intern - Network Operations and Solutions The Network Operations & Solutions teams are responsible for day-to-day operations and for providing visionary solutions for Weyerhaeusers voice, data, and cloud networks. This position will, under general direction and working closely with our Network Operations team, be involved in managing and administering basic network functions, including: incident and problem management, maintaining the network engineering library, working on network IMACs (Install/Moves/Adds/Changes) and participating in cloud orchestration efforts. Each day brings new opportunities and issues to work across our WAN, LAN, wireless, voice, video, and network security technologies (we promise you won't get bored!). The duration of this internship is approximately 6 months beginning in January 2019 in Seattle, WA. Key Functions: * Understand Network Operations processes, standards, terminology and daily tasks * Interact with both internal Weyerhaeuser customers and infrastructure service providers to oversee and manage day-to-day operations * Assist in troubleshooting and problem resolution for the Enterprise Network (day-to-day operations): WAN, LAN, WLAN, voice, and network security solutions * Assist in IMACs (installs, moves, adds, changes, etc.), as needed, to keep the network up and operational * Assist in testing new technologies * Participate in our journey to orchestration of the network in the cloud with multiple vendors * Work with various technical teams, including 3rd party vendors, to troubleshoot, define, implement and monitor network solutions * Desired candidates will be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program related to Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field of study, or graduated within six months. * Have an understanding of the OSI model along with basic network concepts * Programming experience in some language required for scripting, and an appetite to learn scripting tools like Chef, Powershell, Python, Perl or others as they are available * Desired candidates have a minimum of a sophomore standing by January 2019 * Ability and desire to contribute creative ideas to solve technical and business problems * Strong communication skills (written, oral, and listening); able to effectively share information and influence others to act * Positive attitude, enthusiastic, and drive to perform * Works well in a changing environment; able to function independently and adapt readily to multiple assignments, deadlines, and changing priorities * Ability to work effectively on a team - committed to improve team dynamics, communications, and performance * Understanding and interest in software defined networks, scripting, and in cloud based computing About Weyerhaeuser We sustainably manage forests and manufacture products that make the world a better place.
