    POSITION KEY DELIVERABLES:

    The Belridge Diatomite Thermal Recovery (DTR) team has the primary responsibility for developing and managing the South Belridge field thermal diatomite projects including the Diatomite Steam Drive (DSD) and the East Flank Cyclic (EFC) projects. The DSD project is focused on improving the subsurface steam injection conformance and finding solutions for optimizing oil production that includes drilling replacement wells and completing well work improvement activities on existing producers. The EFC project is a significant growth opportunity for Aera that is expected to have hundreds of new future wells.

    The successful Engineering Technician candidate will be involved in supporting the DSD and EFC technical teams.

    POSITION ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage the DSD steam injection survey process by scheduling out and working with the field and service providers to obtain surveys or wireline tags prior to the due dates and working as a liaison with the local CalGEM office to provide them with survey, tag depth and injectivity ratio plot submittal data.
    • Update and maintain MS Access / Excel based team workbooks that support engineering and Operations activities across the DTR team.
    • Update and maintain Tableau based team reports that enable and support engineering and Operations activities across the DTR team.
    • Respond to EBS signals and follow SOP's to validate that the signals are real.
    • Maintain and update EBS SOP's as necessary.
    • Receive fiber optic surveys, maintain the survey list, and make vendor contact when needed.
    • Maintain DSD patterns including well lists and FPP’s (fluid participation percentages) in the Reporting data Warehouse that flow into software applications used by members of the team.
    • Query and obtain offset competitor volume and well mechanical detail as needed.
    • Provide SharePoint support for the Reservoir Surveillance Engineering teams.
    • Maintain ArcGIS maps and build new layers when requested.
    • Support teams in well test allocation improvement opportunities.
    • Occasional ad hoc data report gathering.
    • Write ad hoc Access queries as requested.
    • Build Tableau reports as requested.
    • Play integral role in DTR Team Strategic Daily Improvement activities.

     

    Required Skills

    CRITICAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

    • Data access skills using software tools such as Access, Excel and Tableau required.
    • Ability to query the Data Warehouse to extract data needed for workbook and tool summaries preferred.
    • Ability to build tools to display the data that is extracted from the Data Warehouse.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
    • Team player able to work inter-dependently – provide support to many different customers.
    • Strong passion for learning, improving and customer focus.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills needed.
    • Ability to interact with multi-disciplinary technical and operations teams as wells as regulatory agencies such as CalGEM.

     

    Required Experience

    • Engineering technician experience preferred.
    • Experience using SharePoint, Tableau and ArcGIS a plus.
    • Experience with SQL coding is beneficial.
    • Exposure to basic reservoir engineering practices and principles desired.
