    PRODUCT ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Propose and manage the design of new products, improvements, and technology updates.
    • Coordinate with product strategy to ensure that our developments align with technology and product roadmaps.
    • Manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team, comprised of electrical, mechanical, software, systems, and certification engineers.
    • Lead engineering through all phases of product development including the planning, architecture, implementation, and verification of a product.
    • Pilot technical teams in pursuit of new business.
    • Technical point of contact with Astronautics customers current and future.
    • Manage the technical scope with internal development teams and customers.
    • Provide technical leadership to ensure that designs meet or exceed certification and customer requirements.
    • Plan and manage engineering teams, schedules, and budgets to ensure alignment with internal and customer expectations.
    • Mitigate technical risks to realize opportunities on projects.
    • Lead project level product design reviews.
    • Monitor and communicate project status, both written and orally, to management and customers.
    • Provide technical leadership to contractors and suppliers.

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Computer Science from and accredited university.
    • 5+ years of engineering experience in electronics.
    • Experience in planning and executing engineering development projects including staffing, schedule, budget, and risk management.
    • Permanently eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3+ years of engineering leadership.
    • Experience in the design of avionics or other safety critical systems.
    • Knowledge of ARP-4754, DO-160, DO-254, or DO-178.

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

         

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English. Ability to write simple correspondence in English.  Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

           

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

       

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

      

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of E-mail and Sunquest Lab Information System (will train).
