Invite Share opportunities to get involved and give back to the community. Join us and help transform lives. The YMCA of Austin is seeking a Development Intern to join our team. We are looking for applicants that are available 15-20 hours per week from September 2018 (start and end dates flexible) with the ability to work between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday, and some nights and weekends. This is an unpaid internship. School credit is available. GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Special Events and Stewardship Coordinator the Development Intern will assist with planning and executing all special events, stewardship plans for donors of both Annual and Capital Campaign. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about cultivation, event planning, stewardship and donor-relationship building as well as non-profit fundraising and philanthropy as a whole. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with planning and executing all department special events for both the Annual and Capital Campaign. Recruit and coordinate event volunteers and partner organizations. Responsible for ongoing solicitation of silent auction and raffle items. Assist with assembling and distributing stewardship pieces. Correspond directly with donors to confirm recognition, extend gratitude, and learn more about their interests. Project a positive, helpful, friendly attitude to all internal and external constituents. Additional activities where needed in relation to cultivation, stewardship and planning for our upcoming Annual and Capital Campaign. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be interested in contributing to the mission of the YMCA of Austin Must be self-confident, results-oriented, and maintain high ethical standards and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information Experience with basic office functions is highly preferred Must have strong professional communication skills (email, phone, face-to-face) Ability to multi-task in a busy environment Technical Skills/Experience Required: Experience using Microsoft Suite (including Excel and Word) required. Working towards a bachelors degree with an interest in non-profit development, event planning, social work, humanities, or other relevant field preferred. Non-profit experience preferred. Must have reliable transportation to attend work. Must be available to work some nights and weekends.
