Teach adult English language learners who want to meet their linguistic and career goals. Adult English Language ESOL Teacher (Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels) Overview of position: * Class possibilities (can possibly be combined to make full-time or remain separate as part-time): o Morning classes: 8:30-9:45 and/or 10:00-12:30 Monday-Friday o Evening classes: 6-9pm Monday - Thursday evenings (4 nights or 2 nights) o Saturday mornings 9-12pm * Classes run for 4 week sessions and are based upon enrollment * Located at our downtown location: 201 Devonshire Street, Boston, MA * Teach all skills: pronunciation, reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar; and TOEFL and/or IELTS test prep, Business English, computer classes, math * $20-23/hour * Deadline to apply: August 20, 2018 Description of Positions: * Create lesson plans and teach ESOL to adult students of diverse linguistic, cultural, religious, socio-economic and educational backgrounds * Survey and incorporate adult learner goals into coursework for a student-centered, goal-oriented participatory ESOL class * Outline teacher and program expectations to the students. Provide syllabus to students. * Prepare and deliver engaging, learner-centered lessons * Communicate classroom/student issues to the Assistant Director or Director in a timely manner * Keep attendance records and any other required paperwork * Attend regular staff meetings and professional development sessions * Document lessons and activities * Assess students regularly. Create and administer weekly quizzes aligned to the curriculum and record the scores. Requirements Qualities Needed for Position (please address in cover letter): * BA or Masters degree in ESOL, Education or related field * At least 1 year ESOL teaching experience, teaching adults preferred * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Able to work independently and as part of a team * Computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Office, the internet including ESL websites) * Bilingual a plus To Apply: Email resume and cover letter to Sarah Harkleroad at sharkleroad@ymcaboston.org to apply.
