Deadline to Apply: 2/1/19 Qualifications: Qualifications and Experience: 1. 21 years of age with a High School diploma or equivalent 2. EMSA California Adult, Infant, and Child CPR + CA Child Care First Aid (within 30 days of employment). 3. Criminal background clearance 4. Physical examination and TB test 5. A minimum of one year experience working with children ages 2-5 6. 12 completed units of Child Development or Early Childhood Education courses 7. AA or BA in Early Childhood Development preferred. Physical Requirements: Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents. Also, must be able to walk, sit, kneel, stand, crouch, run, and lift up to 40 lbs. Assessing and eliminating risks in programs Child Abuse Prevention Completes all forms [ouch, bad day, good day, accident, incident (CIYMCA and Licensing), unsafe working condition reports, and enters all pertinent information into Communication Log] within an hour of the occurrence Keep First Aid Kit in close proximity to program activities and maintain adequate supplies in First Aid Kit at all times. Program Operation Plan and implement a preschool play based curriculum in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Channel Islands YMCA. Creates and follows daily schedule and monthly calendar that should be posted by the first of every month. Make commitment to delivering a quality experience for all program participants Takes initiative by providing better ways to serve and involve members in the program community; strive to provide service that will exceed expectations Demonstrate knowledge of program by answering members questions. Responds to concerns and complaints in a way that makes each person feel valued; initiates action for prompt resolution Adapts, facilitates and evaluates age appropriate activities with and for the program participants Involves and empowers youth Understands and applies basic development principles Maintain adequate stock of necessary supplies by purchasing supplies necessary or by providing a list to be ordered by director at least two weeks in advance as long as it is cleared in the budget Maintains proper control using constructive methods, keeping in mind each childs individual needs Maintains a clean and organized classroom Productivity Follows policies, standards, and procedures Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings Is reliable and consistently punctual Responsible for an orderly and clean classroom, and a healthy learning environment Use CIYMCA resources appropriately and efficiently Attends classes and/or trainings to stay current on Child Care issues Effective Communication Develops positive relationships with students, parents, and coworkers. Keeps Program Director informed in regards, but not limited, to: Staff Schedules including: time off requests/ covering of shifts Daily program happenings with coworkers, children, and parents Treats everyone with respect, courtesy and consideration Listen actively and genuinely by demonstrating Listen First skills Meets monthly one-on-one with head teacher to discuss goals Efficiently communicates and works with other teachers on planning, ideas, trainings, etc. Builds Community: Helps member and participants make connections to others and to all YMCA programs that fit their needs as a family Actively participates in the program community by facilitating positive relationships with children, parents, and staff. Practices effective relationship-building with the use of Listen First and other techniques Greets all members by name and with a smile Takes the initiative to talk to members (program participants and parents) creating a welcoming environment in all YMCA program areas.
