This is a wonderful opportunity for a motivated individual who is full of creative ideas and eager to learn and help spread awareness of the Ys mission. This intern will gain valuable real-world experience at one of largest nonprofits in greater Chicago. This is an unpaid internship. Be Part of Our Mission The mission of the YMCA of Metro Chicago is to develop strong children, families and communities across Metropolitan Chicago through academic readiness, character development, violence prevention, and fitness and healthy living. Our network of 19 centers, five resident camps and hundreds of program sites across the city and suburbs provide everyone with a safe place to learn, play and grow. Scope of Responsibilities:Create and curate content for various integrated marketing communications channels, including websites, e-newsletters, e-blasts, social media, videos, and press materialsContribute story ideas for the editorial calendarUpdate and maintain pressroom on the website, as neededReview the social media presence of peer organizations and share ideas for increasing engagement on the Y's social media channelsAssist with researching new media opportunities and updating media listsAssist with pulling metrics and reports to determine ROI of communications and PR effortsAssist with media and social media monitoringAssist with proofreading, fact checking, updating databases, and organizing resources into a reference libraryAttend departmental and editorial meetings, as requested Support the YMCAs commitment to child abuse prevention by:Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor or the person responsible for those items at your site.Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to managing visitors and guests at our facilities.Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.Completing all child abuse prevention training as required.Requirements:Currently enrolled in a college or university, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or other related fields strongly preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skillsSolid understanding of different social networksCapability to effectively multi-task and meet deadlinesStrict attention to detailCreative thinkerAbility to communicate in a professional manner with internal and external contactsProficiency in word processing, database work, e-mail and Internet researchKnowledge of Google Suite products; PR platforms (e.g., Meltwater), social media management systems (e.g., Sprout) or Adobe Creative Suite are a plus Enthusiasm for the mission of the YMCA of Metro Chicago and the communities we serve OptionsApply for this job onlineApplyShareRefer this job to a friendReferSorry the Share function is not working properly at this moment.
