  • Responsibilities

    UPS is currently seeking highly motivated, energetic self-starter professionals to work as Business Development (BD) Interns. He/She supports the Region BD team in meeting overall business objectives, while leveraging and protecting the UPS brand both internally and externally.

    BD Interns manage projects geared towards the improvement of various processes within the Cargo office operation. Key responsibilities for Interns include: documenting information on processes, analyzing large amounts of data, and generating alternate solutions to existing job processes. He/She works closely with the Region BD team to complete various tasks. BD Interns exercise advanced Microsoft Excel and analytical skills as they work with large amounts of data.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Submits documented proposals with alternate lanes, estimated service improvements and estimated savings
    • Audits and analyzes current processes for extracting and updating monthly staffing reports and organizational charts, to reduce redundancies and administrative work, and increase productivity
    • Reviews current process for responding to RFP’s, analyzes work flow, establishes streamlined process and develops tools to eliminate unnecessary administrative work
    • Analyzes account alignments and makes recommendations for future assignment of accounts

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to generate and analyze reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Demonstrates general knowledge of techniques for analyzing large amounts of data
    • Ability to work independently and follow through with various duties and tasks
    • Experience using Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, v-lookup, etc.), PowerPoint (embedding, transitions, etc.), and Microsoft Access (create and run queries, coding, etc.)
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal skills)
    • Proficient in SQL and Visual Basic
    • Post-grad students (within the last 24 months) – Preferred
    • Data Management experience – Preferred
