JOB SUMMARY
The Communications Specialist contributes to the creation of companywide communications for a wide variety of existing communication channels. He/she works on multiple concurrent and ongoing projects focused on employee communications.
The Communications Specialist works with appropriate departments and managers to assist in the development and execution of internal communications that support the mission and vision of projects or initiatives. He/She ensures deliverables align with UPS style guidelines and culture to convey the appropriate tone and meaning to employees. This position acts as a point of contact between Human Resources and the Operations department to streamline the process of information exchange. The Communications Specialist provides routine status reports for management to update status of current and projected deliverables. He/She prepares materials or articles as needed to assist project manager with communications deliverables.

Founded on a $100 loan in 1907, 2 teenage boys opened up a messenger service in a 6 by 17 foot office located just below the sidewalk on Second Avenue and Main Street in Seattle, WA. Messengers ran errands, carried notes, hand baggage, and delivered trays of food for customers. They also delivered packages, traveling by streetcars and bicycles for longer trips, and later using motorcycles.
