  • Responsibilities

    The Global Business Services (GBS) Communications Supervisor serves as a member of the GBS Communications team as graphics and design support for portal content, email and distribution, digital signage channel messaging, and ad hoc support. This position is responsible for developing, shaping and executing GBS visual aspects of brand and communication deliverables to ensure brand consistency across GBS business units. Weekly design requests include internal portal article design look and feel, leadership PowerPoint decks, digital displays, and online imagery. He/She also contributes to the global brand and employee GBS communications plan. The GBS Communications Supervisor maximizes current and future tools that measure the effectiveness of multiple employee messaging channels, maximizing effectiveness to ensure messages consistently reach intended audiences.     

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Conceptualizes visuals and execution of GBS Brand and Communications team material to inform, engage, and educate UPS people across various channels
    • Develops and maintains relationships with key UPS GBS leaders, contacts, and sources to gain awareness of organizational priorities, plans, and activities
    • Assists in maintaining the GBS editorial calendar that is aligned with the corporate editorial calendar as well as provides updates to the GBS Human Resources calendar with key events and Communications strategy implementations
    • Assists in planning and executing events, such as global town halls
    • Helps develop and execute global internal communications campaigns that support strategic initiatives
    • Creates additional UPS branded materials, including infographics, flyers, and banners to support ad-hoc and GBS strategic communications projects
    • Develops content within the UPSers.com content management system and posts it to UPSers.com
    • Supports the transition from static email design and delivery to a personalized, responsive email distribution
    • Demonstrates negotiation techniques in situations to gain consensus among those involved
    • Presents options to peers and stakeholders on alternative methods for getting information to UPS people when standard publication channels are not appropriate
    • Advises, counsels, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to share project information and to advise on content and channel standards and develop communications plans

  • Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Proven graphic designing experience with a strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
    • Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
    • A keen eye for aesthetics and details to flyers, brochures, PowerPoint decks, Infographics, etc.
    • Communication Design and Management: Identifies the main message in documents; explains the importance of timely and relevant communication; demonstrates a basic understanding of the different channels available for communication
    • Detail Orientation: Captures/documents specific and accurate information; learns subjects thoroughly and in detail; completes work with thoroughness; supplies appropriate details when requested; maintains organized files
    • Negotiation: Demonstrates an understanding of negotiation techniques; identifies stakeholders/participants that should be involved in negotiations; demonstrates an understanding of each party’s objectives
    • Project Management: Demonstrates understanding of implementation objectives, project plan, and one's role within a project; participates in the implementation of a project; provides timely, thorough, and concise updates for an area of responsibility; identifies areas of risk and properly communicates them to the project manager
    • Experience using Photoshop or other photo/video editing software
    • Experience with graphic design programs in the Adobe Creative Cloud or other design and layout software
    • Experience with HTML – Preferred
    • Experience with social media tools (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) - Preferred
    • Experience with editorial content planning calendars - Preferred

    Founded on a $100 loan in 1907, 2 teenage boys opened up a messenger service in a 6 by 17 foot office located just below the sidewalk on Second Avenue and Main Street in Seattle, WA. Messengers ran errands, carried notes, hand baggage, and delivered trays of food for customers.
