The Talent Management Insights Group provides significant, sustainable competitive advantage to UPS through data-driven insights, regarding people, which are compelling to business leaders and actionable by HR. We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic and change-minded team member to help lead Talent Insights.

    The HR Business Analyst analyzes talent data from multiple sources and assists with the development of new data collection methods and reporting. The Talent Insights Group HR Business Analyst, oversees project plans, executes plans, and provides data to senior leadership to assist with evaluating business plan results. This role follows up with stakeholders to clarify, quantify, and confirm data points and communicate the needs of the customer to the Talent Management team.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Looks for innovative opportunities to assess value-added impact, risks, challenges, opportunities, and benefits for the organization 
    • Configures new technology to support various data collection methods and systems (HR data, Finance data, Operation data, surveys, 3rd party data, etc.)
    • Collaborates with project team members to exchange information and respond to requests in a timely manner
    • Follows up with manager formally (e.g., status meetings, etc.) and informally to continuously manage productivity, timelines and deliverables

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Reporting: Designs new report generation processes; identifies emerging trends that impact information retrieval and reporting; develops standards for report generation, maintenance, and distribution; writes highly complex queries to generate ad- hoc, customized reports; creates templates for standardized report creation; writes macros to automate queries.
    • Applies Information Analysis: Identifies key information sources, assesses information quality, and understands and communicates limitations; relates and compares information from different sources; manages large amounts of data and appropriately applies exploratory analysis techniques; makes logical assumptions; challenges own findings and documents process and outcomes; audits own analyses and determines their validity. Synthesizes information and facts to draw supported conclusions and insights; demonstrates logic, rationality, and objectivity in drawing conclusions, defining solution options and decision making.
    • Assesses Business Needs: Demonstrates a general understanding of ways to identify and measure the current needs of the customer or business; uses the business need to help define the project’s requirements
    • Project Management: Demonstrates understanding of implementation objectives, project plan, and one's role within a project; participates in the implementation of a project; provides timely, thorough, and concise updates for area of responsibility; identifies areas of risk and properly communicates them to the project manager
    • Working knowledge of HR Information Management Systems (GEMS/iGEMS and My Talent Center), SPSS, R
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to write database commands in MS SQL, creating stored procedures and database functions
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint and Word 
    • Experience developing and managing project plans of short duration - Preferred 
    • Experience with database management - Preferred
    • Human Resources experience - Preferred
