    ABOUT THIS ROLE:

    The Information Technology (IT) FINANCE ANALYST provides support to promote the innovative use of technology for strategic and profitability objectives. He/She supports the operation of Information Services (IS) as a financially effective and industry leading global business.

    The (IT) FINANCE ANALYST is responsible for supporting IS District Managers and their staff in developing strategies to achieve profit and business plan targets and advance UPS’s competitive position. He/She supports the continuous development of an IT business management model and systems to promote accountability for the effective and efficient delivery of IT service value. This position performs financial analysis of corporate initiatives and supports strategic sourcing for vendor selection and procurement. The IT Finance Analyst maintains IT related organizational accounting principles, practices, and procedures. He/She analyzes operating results (e.g., costs, budgets, intercompany charges, software capitalization, etc.) and accounting processes. This position promotes financial compliance, drives transaction and process management, and ensures the proper recording of transactions. He/She supervises specialists and administrative staff.

    JOB DUTIES:

    SUPPORTS IT FINANCE ANALYSES AND BUSINESS ANALYSES STRATEGIES

    • Establishes and leverages relationships across the organization with key IT providers and customers to understand functional needs, grow the innovative use of technology, and to drive technology value and cost improvement opportunities.
    • Assesses implications of competitive industry information and supports internal and external financial benchmarking efforts to
    • drive insightful and actionable recommendations for profitability improvements.
    • Supports cross-functional strategic planning (e.g., Application Portfolios, Infrastructure Portfolios, etc.) to fulfill UPS's financial objectives and to evaluate strategies, and to ensure achievement of profit and business plan goals.
    • Evaluates profitability, trends, and post-profitability analyses to recommend strategically critical projects for meeting business objectives.
    • Supports development of long-term business plans (e.g., intercompany charges, expense, project benefits, etc.) to drive profitability and market share.
    • Supports business case development and performs project financial analyses (e.g., deployment strategy analysis, portfolio performance analysis, case studies, etc.) to justify and prioritize technology investments and enhance margin growth.
    • Develops and implements advanced analysis techniques to provide customized project analyses while ensuring compliance with corporate and IS financial analysis standards.

    SUPPORTS IT COST MODELING AND ADVANCED ANALYTICS

    • Supports IT Application and Infrastructure cost and pricing development and communicates with management to summarize IT product revenue, costing, and benefit trends.
    • Evaluates model structures, metrics, and updates to reflect changes in IT platforms, services, and industry standards to facilitate costing, pricing, analysis, and benchmarking.
    • Monitors monthly processes to ensure accurate and timely release of product performance and customer profitability reports.
    • Performs audits to review product performance results and trends for accurate reporting.

    SUPPORTS AND PERFORMS IT ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS

    • Identifies accounting issues resulting from IS operational and technical changes and implements changes in accounting practices to support analytics models, to identify issues, and to ensure timely resolution.
    • Implements policies and procedures to support legal, regulatory, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principle requirements.
    • Monitors accounting deliverables to ensure deadlines are met and to maintain accounting compliance.
    • Supports capital expenditure requests with the Real Estate Facilities Committee to ensure requests are within budget and are justifiable.
    • Supports IT profit and business plans for District Managers to ensure compatibility with accounting practices, to identify gaps and trends, and to determine solutions.

    MANAGES PROJECTS

    • Manages project lifecycles, including project scope, resources, schedule, initiation, start-up/design, building, and deployment to see projects from beginning-to-end.
    • Forwards project documents to stakeholders to obtain sign-off, agreement on project cost, and needed resources.
    • Develops project plans (i.e., detailed plan, milestones, and work breakdown structures) and assigns tasks to resources to ensure that the project will be completed on time and according to specifications.
    • Ensures affected functions or groups are identified and works with them to negotiate process changes, ownership of processes, and to manage project impact.
    • Designs and implements communication plans to ensure those affected by projects are informed and updated.
    • Follows up with assigned resources formally (e.g., status meetings, etc.) and informally to continuously manage the productivity of the team, project timelines, and deliverables.
    • Balances multiple projects and deployment schedules to meet stakeholder goals and expectations.

    SUPERVISES AND DEVELOPS OTHERS

    • Determines employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans.
    • Provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance.
    • Conducts performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement.
    • Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.
    • Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS’s policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.
