  • Responsibilities

    UPS is seeking an Industrial Engineering Intern. An Industrial Engineering Intern at UPS works on targeted projects individually, or in small teams. Projects may require operational observations, data collection, cross functional communication, and problem solving. Interns will be trained in Original Analysis and Master Standard Data (MSD) to effectively perform analyses within the realms of UPS. All projects will be presented to the Corporate Industrial Engineering staff upon completion.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    Projects include, but are not limited to:

    • Create, analyze and apply Original Analysis for new technology within the Corporation
    • Develop standards for functional areas within UPS based on Work Measurement
    • Conduct cost benefit analyses and document the findings
    • Develop process improvement analyses
    • Run queries involving large amounts of UPS data for time studies or other data analyses
    • Develop Operational planning, observations and plan implementations
    • Identify exceptions, formulate recommendations and implement improvements to eliminate exceptions

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Rising college junior or senior majoring in Industrial Engineering and/or Engineering related discipline
    • Intermediate experience in Access and Excel
    • Effective statistical analysis skills
    • Effective research and communication skills
    • Enthusiasm, idealism, creativity and dedication to getting results
    • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
    • Ability to interact and communicate effectively across business units
    • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
