    JOB SUMMARY

    The Plant Engineering (PE) intern supports the protection of UPS assets, facilities, equipment, and grounds. He /She assists with maintaining facility environmental compliance, conveyor system reliability, housekeeping, and facility safety. The PE Specialist manages small projects.

     OTHER DUTIES

    • Generates and maintains all contracts and certificates of insurance for multiple vendors
    • Assists with vendor migration from Oasis to ARIBA
    • Assists with vendor diversification
    • Oversees the performance of the Annual Electrical PMI
    • Supervises all necessary repairs with UPS mechanics through MAXIMO
    • Analyze and trouble shoot PLC systems
    • Assists with outbound commissioning audits
    • Assists with overseeing the protection of physical assets, facility and equipment maintenance, and facility housekeeping to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient facility
    • Assists with identifying and scheduling necessary repairs and preventative maintenance, through the use of PE mechanics and outside vendors, to maintain the condition of the facility
    • Uses outside service housekeeping vendors to ensure that facility appearance is maintained at an acceptable level for the most reasonable cost
    • Dispatches and oversees the work of outside service housekeeping vendors through physical inspections to ensure quality of work
    • Communicates regularly with outside contractors to resolve any problems
    • Manages vendor contract compliance and oversees vendor payment to ensure the work is done to specifications and vendors are paid upon completion
    • Audit and inventory department supplies and equipment
    • Assists with developing the scope of work, and estimates cost using UPS guidelines and industry standards so projects can be evaluated against the district budget and approvals obtained
    • Inspects projects to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and adherence to original contract documents
    • Manages the budget by tracking costs against contract terms to ensure that costs stay within district budgetary guidelines
    • Communicates assigned work status to colleagues to determine the potential impact on the department’s schedule
    • Assist with design development and preparation for projects
    • Monitors and maintains energy conservation throughout the building through several avenues and gradual upgrades
    • Assists with sustainability campaign
    • Assists with the implementation of sustainability initiatives
    • Monitors department spending based on annual budgetary figures for multiple categories
    • Manages the accrual process for the department

     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
