The Deployment Specialist actively participates in the implementation of standardized or customized shipping, billing, and visibility solutions while meeting the needs of the customer and the company. He/she assists with implementation model development, deployment plan definition, and implementation phase scheduling. This position helps drive the approach of the implementation project plan.
The Deployment Specialist serves as a core member of the cross-function program team to assist impacted parties on product and service issues during implementation. He/She helps to build the work breakdown structure and assists in determining the location, customer, and user group deployment order to create the implementation project plan. This position also conducts formal product training on UPS solutions and enhancements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assists in identifying communication groups to build the communication plan and communicate across business lines
- Documents and reports account activity (e.g., customer visits and phone calls, training, etc.) to ensure account team members are informed of the customers’ activity
- Prepare and present product training (e.g., trends, technology initiatives, etc.) to the Deployment Team staff
- Documents solutions in the project management tool (i.e., TEAMS) and logs customer calls and visits on the account management system to report account activity and to ensure account team members are informed of customer activity
- Identifies single products, and services to assist with plan definition implementation
- Provides assistance with project deliverables to ensure budget and timelines are met

- Demonstrates understanding of implementation objectives, project plan, and one's role within a project; participates in the implementation of a project; provides timely, thorough and concise updates for area of responsibility; identifies areas of risk and properly communicates them to the project manager
- Demonstrates an understanding of basic project planning processes, including planning action items and resources
- Lists basic design specifications linked to business requirements; describes the importance of quality design and development procedures; outlines design and development
- Recognizes when customers are having issues; identifies resolution to basic customer issues and recommends solutions
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of supply chain concepts; identifies issues within a supply chain
- Demonstrates a general understanding and use of grammatical rules; expresses ideas clearly and concisely; explains the relationship of effective writing to business objectives
- Identifies routine work methods/processes/flows to analyze; describes in general terms, process capability studies; describes the basic steps in analysis of data related to people, technology, or information
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Logistics/Transportation, IT/Computer Science - Preferred
- Experience in project management - Preferred
- Experience using advanced Access and Excel functionalities, (e.g., Pivot tables, V-look ups, database creation/maintenance, etc.) - Preferred
