PACKAGE DELIVERY DRIVER
JOB SUMMARY
As a UPS package delivery driver, you will play a strategic and critical role in our organization. The UPS package delivery driver is responsible for maintaining customer relationships while performing the delivery and the pick up of packages from customers' locations. The position involves driving a commercial sized vehicle that uses a standard clutch transmission (stick shift). The package delivery driver, working in accordance with prescribed methods, must deliver and pick up packages at a consistent pace during a full work shift, while maintaining acceptable performance and safety levels. Packages are of various sizes and shapes, and weigh up to a maximum of 150 pounds each. This position offers excellent pay, full benefits and a pension.
This full time package delivery driver position could provide the opportunity for a successful candidate to advance into a management position. UPS has a long standing policy of promotion from within. It is UPS's goal to identify candidates who are motivated to possibly take on the roles and responsibilities of a supervisor. In order to be considered for promotion candidates gain valuable experience as a package delivery driver.
The position of package delivery driver will provide candidates with working knowledge of the company, methods and service while preparing a candidate for promotion into a management position. The supervisor position is responsible for working with drivers in a diverse environment that requires the interpretation and enforcement of work instructions and company policies; provide input and analysis towards the design of new procedures; conduct both one-on-one and group training, and conduct operational assessments and action plans for continuous improvement. As a full-time supervisor, the individual becomes a partner in the company and shares in the rewards of success through the management incentive plan.
