PROTEIN MASS SPECTROMETRY INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.

The Protein Mass Spectrometry Intern will work as part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team in an integrated research laboratory .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Conduct laboratory studies to investigate drug induced target protein inactivation by native mass spectrometry and compare data

• Support sample preparation and purification for high resolution LCMS analysis

• Test and optimize micro flow LC and compare with analytical setup for peptide quantitation

• Test different internal standards to improve the accuracy of in vitro stability assays

• Interact with cross-functional teams to establish productive collaborations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, or other related field

• Must be enrolled in university during the internship period

• Must have strong communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Expected graduation date between August 2023 - December 2025

• Good understanding of protein mass spectrometry

• Hands-on experience of LC-MS analysis on qTOF mass spectrometers

• Hands-on experience of protein affinity purification

• Exposure to cell biology of signaling and familiar with bioinformatics tools

• Knowledge in protein structure and function
