    BIOANALYTICAL INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

The Bioanalytical Intern will help characterize the proteome of various ocular fluids and tissues from humans and animals to better understand the expression level of ocular hydrolytic enzymes. The results will help understand (i) pro-drug metabolism and polymer biodegradation in the eye, (ii) interspecies differences, and differences between healthy and diseased eyes, and (iii)improve the translation of non-clinical studies. To gain additional insight into the role of these enzymes, the intern may also conduct in vitro studies that investigate metabolism of various drugs and biodegradable polymers.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Develop and apply state-of-the-art analytical tools including liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) systems in an industrial pharmaceutical R&D setting

    • Have a basic understanding of LC/MS quantitation and proteomics workflows.

    • Contribute to developing and characterizing novel in vitro models relevant to ocular drug development

    • Assist in designing and executing experiments

    • Analyze and interpret data

    • Present data/results to department and/or project teams

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
