CMC BIOLOGICS, DEVELOPMENT SCIENCES INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.
This is a lab-based internship located in AbbVie’s Bay Area office supporting the Chemistry Manufacturing & Controls (CMC) Biologics team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Support the CMC Biologics team in development and execution of plans
Evaluate new lab equipment and technologies to improve the cell line development workflow
Perform experiments and interpret data
Present data summary at group meetings
Contribute to the development of new workflows for NGS data management and analysis
Contribute to the assessment and integration of cutting-edge instrumentation to streamline our workflow
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in a STEM discipline
Must be enrolled in university during the internship period
Strong understanding and hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture with focus on recombinant protein production and excellent aseptic techniques
Familiarity with NGS technologies and data, bioinformatics and sequencing
Self-starter, able to work independently when provided tools and desired endpoints
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and exposure to programming languages and software, like LINUX, R, Spotfire, MATLAB, Geneious
Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and software interface
Expected graduation date between August 2023 - July 2024
