    CHEMICAL BIOLOGY INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

    Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.

    The Proteasome Sciences (PS) Team is seeking a motivated intern interested in a multidisciplinary position. PS is part of the Protein Degradation Platform Team that works in early discovery and development of technologies to induce protein degradation. The internship will focus on identifying factors that contribute to protein ubiquitination via a chemical biology approach. The intern will learn chemical biology and analytical techniques, prepare biochemical assays, and gain a fundamental understanding of proteasome biology.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Learn chemical biology techniques, with a strong emphasis on lysine labeling

    • Prepare biochemical assays for protein ubiquitination

    • Confirm probe labeling through bioanalytical techniques (gel electrophoresis, western blot, LC-MS)

    • Summarize and articulate results to the PS team

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Biology, Chemistry, or related field

    • Must be enrolled in university during the internship period

    • Must have successfully completed organic chemistry coursework

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Successful completion or current enrollment in biochemistry coursework
