    CLINICAL BIOINFORMATICS RESEARCH INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.

Imbruvica, a leading oncology drug, is the only BTK inhibitor with 11 approvals, across 6 indications, based on 11 pivotal trials. Leading the way with a wave of scientific evidence, around 300 TB of multi-omics data have been collected from patients who have participated in Imbruvica clinical trials across various indications. With a vision aligning with our central knowledge platform, AbbVie R&D Convergence Hub (ARCH), a comprehensive system, ImbruvicaVerse is being developed as a one-stop-shop for all things Imbruvica; including data, internally developed tools, news, etc. This Intern will help develop and implement data navigation tools as well as data visualization, presentation, interpretation, and analytics tools for ImbruvicaVerse, especially within the realm of clinical bioinformatics.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Help harmonize omics data formats (e.g. set standards for the minimum required information for somatic mutations) across different studies for more streamlined data deep dive activities with downstream analytics tools.

    • Expand current data navigation tools to facilitate more features in rapid searching, slicing and dicing the data for various data mining and exploratory analyses

    • Dockerize all internally developed data analytics tools (the analytics engine back-end of ImbruvicaVerse), such as multi-marker molecular signature (MMMS) finding tool and patient subpopulation identification tool, to maximize our cloud computing efficiency as well as to help us share our specialized analytics tools with different groups within our Global Bioinformatics.

    • Help develop, implement and incorporate computational statistics into bioinformatics tools (e.g. leveraging data simulations as a way to assess uncertainty and to calculate/compare the probabilities of success in a variety of scenarios).

    • Further improve our web-interface front-end of ImbruvicaVerse and to build user-friendly features for biologists and clinical scientists to use the system.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
