COMPUTATIONAL TOXICOLOGY INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.
The Computational Toxicology group functions to develop, refine, and bring awareness to in-silico methods that may help predict and understand safety for small and large molecules. The Computational Toxicology Intern will gain exposure to a wide range of safety-related datasets ranging from biology, pharmacology, toxicology, and chemistry to help with predictive modeling and data analysis. Using these datasets, the team hopes to apply data science and machine-learning methodology to better visualize the data and help identify novel and mechanistic associations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Collaborate with experts to independently curate, harmonize, and interpret internal safety findings across historical data to assist in data convergence
Implement strategies to better structure and utilize safety data in a meaningful manner to address scientific inquiry of drug safety challenges
Integrate state-of-the-art bioinformatics and AI/ML pipelines into current computational toxicology workflows
Collaborate with research and bioinformatics scientists to conceive informatics analysis strategy, leveraging advanced machine learning/AI algorithms, to support discovery and pre-clinical safety studies. Specific applications may include transcriptomics, bioactivity, in vitro/vivo safety data and molecular data integration, etc.
