    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Within Corporate Responsibility, Brand and Communications (CRBC), there are five focus areas or teams. Within any of the five teams, you will be responsible for developing and conducting key communication and administrative activities that are in alignment with and reinforce CRBC’s 2023 objectives and goals. You may also be responsible for collaborating with outside vendors and employees at all levels of the organization on key communication and programmatic activities while on assignment.

    All of the available positions will expect interns to be in person, onsite in Lake County, IL for at least three days a week. Housing benefits will be provided to eligible interns.

    Each area listed below provides further information of the available team assignments. Using these descriptions, please identify which team you would like to apply for.

    CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS: As a Corporate Communications Intern, you will be responsible for creating and contributing to department and company-wide employee-facing content published through internal communication channels (e.g., company intranet, employee wide emails and resources).

    CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY & GLOBAL PHILANTHROPY: As a Corporate Responsibility & Global Philanthropy Intern, you will support special projects for one or more of the following teams: global philanthropy, patient access and independent medical education, and/or Environment, Social & Governance (ESG).

    CORPORATE MARKETING: As a Corporate MarketingIntern, you will support AbbVie’s Corporate Marketing team, which aims to raise awareness and favorability of AbbVie to external stakeholders. You will collaborate with our corporate brand, social media, and web teams on content development projects for abbvie.com and our corporate social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

    INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC AFFAIRS: International Public Affairs (IPA) is responsible for developing a communications and engagement strategy for the benefit of patients on a global scale. We collaborate with our local in-country “affiliate” partners to drive patient engagement, enhance visibility of AbbVie’s therapeutic area leadership, elevate understanding of our pipeline and protect AbbVie’s reputation.

    As an IPA Intern, you will have the opportunity to build relationships and engage with geographically diverse teams to support brand communications for the oncology business, while working alongside the Global Patient Relations team to further our enterprise patient advocacy strategy.

    U.S. PUBLIC AFFAIRS: U.S. Public Affairs (USPA) is responsible for promoting and protecting AbbVie’s products within the United States. This team anticipates trends and navigates today’s complex media landscape often connecting with key external stakeholders, such as pharma/trade media, health media, consumer media, patient advocates and influencers, as well as our internal stakeholders from marketing, medical affairs, regulatory and more. U.S. Public Affairs aims to create relevant content and empathetic connections to help enable patients to be heard, seen and empowered.

    As a USPA Intern, you will have the opportunity to build relationships and engage with diverse teams to support communications for the immunology business.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Str ong writing & organizational skills

    • Strong project management skills

    • Solid grasp on creative production and a good understanding of social media technologies

    • Good problem solver

    • Comfortable learning & using technology

    • Curiosity that can translate to clear communications

    • Passion for purpose-driven work

    • Minimum GPA = 3.0

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Returning to a university for at least one semester and graduating between December 2023 - June 2025

    • Currently enrolled in a university, pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major in Marketing, Journalism, Business Administration or other related field of study

    • Communications, Public Relations/Public Affairs or Corporate Marketing experience/emphasis in course work

    • Demonstrated leadership skills through on-campus involvement or work experience (i.e., extracurricular activities or projects)
