    DMPK-BA IN VITRO ADME SCIENCES INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

    Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.

    The DMPK-BA In Vitro ADME Sciences Intern will support research projects encompassing in vitro ADME/DMPK. The Intern will support both wet lab experiments and desk work. This is a great opportunity to learn and develop in a vibrant, thought-provoking research community in the AbbVie Bay Area office. The Intern will also gain insight into research approaches related to early drug disposition and drug-drug interaction study design.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Design and conduct routine ADME experiments including CYP induction and protein binding using different platforms (with oversight from Assignment Manager)

    • Perform the designed ADME experiments

    • Perform literature searches on relevant ADME topics. Summarize literature reviews and prepare documentation with key takeaways, including a complete list of citations

    • LCMS training on ADME sample analysis

    • Data analysis and interpretation

    • Present research findings to the department at the end of the internship

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Currently enrolled in a university, pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or another related field.

    • Theoretical and practical understanding of in vitro ADME/DMPK concepts

    • Basic knowledge on the theoretical and practical use of LC-MS/MS

    • Attention to detail and ability to think critically

    • Possess good oral and written communication skills

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Expected graduation date between August 2023 and December 2025

    • Robust and extensive coursework in molecular biology and ADME/PK related sciences

    • Hands on experience in in vitro cell culture, RNA extraction, q-PCR, protein extraction

    • Ability to analyze and interpret data (Excel, GraphPad Prism)
