RANDOMIZED-WITHDRAWAL STUDIES INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.
Through strategic leadership and operational excellence, the Data and Statistical Sciences (DSS) group revolutionizes the drug development landscape. We are pioneers in generating and leveraging scientific evidence to provide new treatments that make a remarkable impact on our patients. Statistical sciences provide statistics support for all phases of clinical development as well as global medical affairs.
The Randomized-Withdrawal Studies Intern will assist the Clinical Statistics department in developing statistical methods for obtaining Individual Patient Data (IPD) from randomized-withdrawal design trials. Obtaining IPD has several benefits: it allows for more accurate comparisons of treatment efficacy, particularly in regards to patient populations and concomitant medication handling; it enables the identification of clinical and molecular profiles across trials, which can inform precision medicine strategies and the co-positioning of treatments; and it can contribute to the creation of a cross-compound data hub with a coherent study design and easily interpretable efficacy results, which can serve as a synthetic control pool for future treat-through studies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Internal study review
Conduct simulation studies
Application to real clinical data
Format all internal trials and develop an R-Shiny-based interface to allow easy access by DSS statisticians
