    GENOMICS RESEARCH CENTER QTL MAP INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

    Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.

    The QTL Map intern will implement a pipeline to generate harmonized Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) maps derived from expression (eQTL) and protein (pQTL) measurements across therapeutic areas and programs.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Collaborate with internship managers to identify and prioritize QTL maps to (re)map

    • Centralize and catalog datasets for QTL analysis

    • Perform evaluation and testing of internally developed molecular QTL mapping pipeline(s) and compare functionality and performance with a publicly available standardized pipeline.

    • Incorporate key features into common workflow and apply to collection of internal molecular trait datasets to create harmonized database of internally generated QTL maps

    • Application of molecular QTL pipeline to cohort with existing genotype, transcriptomic and proteomic datasets

    • Prepare datasets for integration into AbbVie Research and Development Convergence Hub (ARCH)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Genetics, Computational Biology or related field

    • Must be enrolled in university during the internship period

    • Proficient in programming languages and computational techniques

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience performing molecular QTL analysis and application to biological questions
