    IN VITRO RESEARCH ASSISTANT INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

    Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.

    AbbVie’s Immunology Research & Development (R&D) organization is hosting an intern in its early discovery team. The intern will join a team that focuses on target identification and validation in the Dermatology Disease Area. Candidates will be expected to be well-versed in biology and principles of biomedical sciences. This position requires passion, attention to detail, and teamwork.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Provide support for the emerging stem cell platforms that are currently developed for cross functional support at Transformational and Translational Immunology (TTID)

    • In vitro based work focusing on cell culture support. Functional assays with differentiated cells will need to be established

    • Incorporate relevant external sources (literature, patents, conferences) and state-of-the art technologies and theories to guide novel model builds

    • Process and analyze ex-vivo human and animal tissues for disease-relevant endpoints

    • Sterile cell culture

    • Maintain accurate laboratory records and data

    • Analyze data and present work in internal meetings

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Biology, Immunology, or related field

    • Must be enrolled in university during the internship period

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Exposure to wet bench lab science and familiarity with the following: flow cytometry, PCR/gene analysis, protein/cytokine measures via ELISA/MSD, and other skin-related functional endpoints

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong Microsoft Word and Prism skills
