    PATHOLOGY INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

    Pathology at AbbVie is part of the larger pharmacology and pathology group, which is focused on late discovery of drugs before entering preclinical toxicology and then clinical trials. The Pathology group has an opening for a motivated intern who is dedicated to the development of innovative diagnostics, using image analysis and machine learning. The intern will learn histology, image analysis, machine learning, pathology, rodent models, data analysis and presentation.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Assist in imaging, image analysis, and machine learning initiatives

    • Identifying key structures in whole slide histological images

    • Creating annotations to be used as training data in deep learning models

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Biology, Immunology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field

    • Must be enrolled in university during the internship period

    • Must be comfortable working extended hours at a computer

    • Must have basic histology structure identification and comparative animal anatomy knowledge

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Exposure to immunology

    • Familiarity with data analysis, data presentation and statistical software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Prism)

    • Histology and IHC experience

    • Familiarity with basic programing concepts
