The AbbVie EXCEL Externship Overview

The AbbVie EXCEL Externship is a two-day immersive experience for sophomore students interested in future internships with AbbVie. Students will join us at AbbVie's Headquarters in Lake County, IL during the Summer of 2024 to:

• Get immersed in AbbVie’s culture
• Gain hands-on experience in a variety of key business areas
• Build an extended network of AbbVie representatives, senior leaders, and students from across the country
• Participate in cross-functional professional development opportunities
• Learn more about AbbVie’s career opportunities
• Be considered for an internship for the following summer
• AbbVie will provide travel, transportation, and lodging for eligible students

Business Technology Solutions Overview

The AbbVie EXCEL Externship in Business Technology Solutions serves as a key talent pipeline for our Business Technology Solutions Internship Program. Externship participants are strongly considered for Internship opportunities within Business Technology Solutions for the following year. Successful interns will be considered for the full-time Business Technology Solutions Program upon graduation.

Our BTS team works on meaningful assignments that have a real impact on our business and patients worldwide, while also combining technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving. AbbVie’s worldwide business offers you an opportunity for a variety of potential work experiences that are aligned to a variety of functional areas, including:

• Project Management
• Business Analytics
• Data Analytics
• Data Science
• Application Technology
• Emerging Technology
• Design & Architecture
• Digital Technology
• Information Security

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in university, pursuing a bachelor's degree in management information systems, information technology, computer science, business analytics, data analytics, computer engineering, user design, business administration or equivalent with an expected graduation date between December 2025 – July 2026
• Willing and able to do an internship between Junior and Senior year
• Interest and ability to relocate for AbbVie’s 10 to 12-week on-site internship in Lake County, Illinois, though there is a possibility of being placed within any U.S. AbbVie or Allergan Aesthetics location

Preferred Qualifications

• Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities
• Previous internship or related experience
• Proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
• Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher preferred

Note: Mobility is a key component as a pipeline internship to our full-time Business Technology Solutions Program.
