2024 Intern, Machine Learning for Bioanalytical Methods

Lake County, IL
Internship

  • Responsibilities

Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie Interns.

The project represents the second phase of an overarching goal around bioanalytical method prediction. The first phase, carried out in 2023, consisted in developing a proof-of-concept centralized bioanalysis (BA) method database with automatic data pulling. The second phase, and object of this internship, consists in developing a machine learning model for prediction of appropriate methods on untested compounds.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Develop a roadmap and implement a supervised machine learning workflow for explicit method prediction on untested small molecule compounds. The intern will craft the workflow with input from key stakeholders.
    • Identify and integrate historical data into the non-regulated BA database for information that predates the use of RLIMS. If appropriate, the intern will integrate these historical data into the machine learning method prediction workflow.
    • Develop ways to identify inconsistent, erroneous, or outlier data in the workflow. This will help to inform what information then needs to be captured at the study/activity level of method development for non-regulated BA to avoid these conflicts or preemptively identify problem compounds/studies.

    Minimum Qualifications
