    Greendale is one of Catalent’s gummy technology development and manufacturing facilities in North America. The site manufactures organic and vegan-based nutraceuticals via confection to enhance wellness for all consumers. Simply put - we make healthy gummies. POSITION SUMMARY: The PACKAGING MACHINE OPERATOR maintains optimal operation of packaging lines to ensure consistent production of a quality product packaging, and aids in promoting team morale. S/he must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within field. May direct and lead the work of others, requiring the ability to guide others and provide direction. The PACKAGING MACHINE OPERATOR relies on instructions, pre-established guidelines, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks autonomously and with proficiency. Works under limited supervision. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. The PACKAGING MACHINE OPERATOR must demonstrate strong communication skills and mechanical ability to effectively train other team members. WORK HOURS: 7AM - 7PM (OR 7:30 AM TO 7:30 PM) MONDAY - THURSDAY; MUST BE WILLING TO WORK FRIDAYS AS NEEDED THE ROLE:

    • Responsible for the safety, quality operation of his/her equipment, which includes adhering to the startup, shutdown, steady state operation, and troubleshooting of the equipment.
    • Expected to perform basic equipment care, which includes thorough cleaning, inspecting, and basic lubrication.
    • Assist with the safe, efficient changeover of his/her equipment.Rely upon, maintain and update the Phaser manual as necessary,
    • During machine set-up, checks or reprograms the machine for the run of the day accord; makes all minor adjustments; checks scales; checks overall functions;
    • Ensures all necessary packaging materials, and other collateral supplies are on hand and available as required by the production schedule; Makes all necessary adjustments, changeovers from one product to the next & programming of machine throughout the daily run;
    • Promptly reports to the Mechanic on duty all serious equipment malfunctions and the series of events leading up to the problem;
    • During machine shutdown, makes sure the machine is off and clean; sets up for the next day’s run; report any problems encountered during daily run;
    • Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of packaging area and all equipment and supplies found therein; and;
    • Observe and follow safety procedures;Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Food Safety Plan (HACCP) and Food Quality Plan (FQP);
    • Other duties as assigned.

    THE CANDIDATE:

    • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: HS Diploma or GED Required. One to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • MATH ABILITY: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    • TECHNICAL SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess knowledge of basic computer programming and mechanical functioning.

    • CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: No certifications needed

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance.
