    Position Summary

    We are seeking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong work ethic and an interest in assay development to support early discovery proof-of-concept studies in the Discovery Immunology department. The successful candidate will conduct cellular assays with primary immune cells and other biochemical methods to explore cell therapy approaches in treatment of autoimmune disorders.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform primary cell culture experiments, including isolating cells from human and mouse blood/tissues, inducing cell differentiation and effector activities of T cells, profiling gene expression and cytokine/chemokine secretion.
    • Conduct lentiviral transductions of primary T cells from humans and mice and perform antigen-specific cell killing assays in pre-clinical models.
    • Optimize T cell engineering process and assess effects on immune cell responses, T cell differentiation and exhaustion.
    • Analyze and report experimental findings and present work at team meetings.
    • Additional responsibilities include cell line maintenance, buffer/medium preparation, and sample cryopreservation etc.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Enrollment in University bachelor’s or master’s degree program with 2-3 years of experience in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related scientific discipline (prior industry co-op experience is preferred)
    • Hands-on experience in mammalian tissue culture is highly recommended
    • Strong academic record (≥ 3.0 GPA)
    • Able to commit to a minimum of 8 months of continuous full-time employment (January – August 2022)
    • Ability to learn new lab techniques quickly, conduct data analysis independently and communicate effectively with the team (including meeting presentations)
    • Ability to multi-task, appropriately plan & manage time.
    • Ability to embrace a culture of continuous learning and improvement
