    Position Summary

    Bristol-Myers Squibb is looking for qualified interns to join our Corporate Affairs department. The communications interns will be responsible for assisting the organization in the development and implementation of its communications plan, with an emphasis on executing an integrated internal/external worldwide engagement strategy to help advance product brand and therapeutic area awareness, drive high-performing teams and advance our company’s culture.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Participate in communications planning process, including contributing to brainstorms and tactical planning
    • Support R&D/commercial communicators with initiatives that successfully communicate brand and therapeutic area milestones, as well as support the science story
    • Support editorial planning, content creation and writing/editing across company channels, including social media, BMS.com, Pulse (Intranet), and more
    • Support media planning and outreach, including developing pitches, researching reporters, and developing media background materials
    • Support the enterprise measurement strategy to actively manage and optimize engagement communication performance across internal and external channels
    • Support key events and campaigns to increase employee engagement and drive our company brand  and culture
    • Coordinate monthly communications calendars to develop content and disseminate targeted communications including social media posts
    • Assist in proofreading, editing, writing, posting employee communications for our intranet site
    • Administrative tasks as needed
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Undergraduate student from an accredited university with a major in journalism, communications or similar area of study
    • Intern must have expertise in professional writing, project management, marketing/advertising and public/media relations experience
    • Desired experience in developing targeted, compelling, and effective communications messages, managing projects, deadlines and priorities; planning and coordinating and executing events
    • Candidate must be a creative thinker with great attention to detail
    • Highly proficient in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Yammer
    • The individual must be a team player with excellent writing, interpersonal, organizational and planning skills
