    Position Summary

    The Discovery Biotherapeutics group in San Diego, California is focused on discovering and developing novel biotherapeutic drugs. Our mission is to design and develop biological tools and processes to enable the latest advances in biotherapeutics, and to create the next generation of drugs to support early discovery efforts. We are seeking highly motivated students with at least 2 years of study towards a bachelor’s degree from accredited Colleges and Universities to participate in a full-time paid summer research program related to antibody drug discovery. This position is focused on basic principles and characterization of large molecules including the development of antibody-based therapies in the advancement of ongoing programs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop understanding and design parameters in antibody discovery, working with bench scientists in executing designed experiments.
    • Literature evaluation and review of relevant drug target(s) and biology.
    • Practice sterile, aseptic techniques to prorogate cell cultures and develop fundamental understanding in antibody expression, purification, and characterization of newly discovered antibodies.
    • Participate and contribute during scientific discussions, meetings and presentations.
    • Record experiments, results and characterization data in laboratory notebooks in sufficient detail and in a timely fashion.
