    Position Summary

    Global Capital Project Engineering (GCPE) is a function of the New Brunswick GPS Department that serves Bristol-Myers Squibb’s global business units. Site Engineering offers advice in the planning, coordination, and supervision of technical aspects of construction projects.  An engineer’s role is vital to a construction project by having several responsibilities including solving technical issues, providing advice, management, and preparing reports.

    Position locations may include: New Brunswick, Summit, or Lawrenceville, New Jersey

    Key Responsibilities

    • Documentation filing and consolidation.
    • Assist in CAD work to update drawings for ongoing projects.
    • Assist on the update of master drawings. This also requires field verification of layouts (architectural) and dimensions. This will allow the individual to become aware of the type of facilities at BMS New Brunswick and correct the existing errors in Quick Print.
    • Shadow a Senior PM and learn the process of developing and managing a project. Work side by side with one of the LICP group members and receive exposure on a Major capital project.
    • Review the existing site and global specifications. Compare to the CSI Masterspec list and identify where there are deficiencies and possible need for developing site specification.
    • Learn about people management.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Rising Sophomore or Junior enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program
    • Desired backgrounds/degrees include: Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical & Civil/Structural.
    • Must be enrolled in school the semester of and/or during the intern assignment and must be eligible to work full-time, 40 hours, from June-August 2021
    • Must have strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, organization, and project management skills.
    • Must demonstrate the ability to present ideas, issues, and observations into a clear and useful format, and balance several projects in a fast-paced team environment.
    • Must have the ability to collect, analyze, and integrate information by leveraging appropriate PC/systems technology including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
    • Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing environment and circumstances demonstrating flexibility, tolerance, and sense of urgency
