At Bristol Myers Squibb, we are inspired by a single vision – transforming patients’ lives through science. In oncology, hematology, immunology and cardiovascular disease – and one of the most diverse and promising pipelines in the industry – each of our passionate colleagues contribute to innovations that drive meaningful change. We bring a human touch to every treatment we pioneer. Join us and make a difference.

    Position Summary

Bristol-Myers Squibb is looking for a Postdoctoral fellow to join the Discovery Biology Immunology team and computational biology team located in Lawrenceville, NJ.  The postdoc will perform experimental and computational/ informatics analysis to identify novel genes, pathways, and transcription factor networks controlling the function and plasticity of myeloid cells subsets. They will furthermore work with large patient datasets to understand the relevance of the cellular subsets generated in vitro in comparison to the cellular subsets detected in patients.

The position is a hands-on, laboratory-based role. The candidate is expected to be able to plan, design, develop methodologies and execute projects according to plans and protocols with appropriate supervision. Broad expertise in cellular biology is required with preference given to candidates with demonstrated experience in primary human cells culture systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Establish protocols and characterization of in vitro generated human macrophages and dendritic cells subsets using flow cytometry, functional assays and coculture systems
    • Design experiments and analyze preclinical and clinical-omics data sets, including RNA-seq and genome wide chromatin accessibility
    • Gene editing using CRISPR
    • Integrative analysis of transcriptome and regulome datasets through the application of existing tools and development of custom analysis code and pipelines
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Recent PhD graduate in immunology, biology, biochemistry or biological science with training in Bioinformatics or computational Biology or PhD graduate in Bioinformatics or computational biology with prior experience working in immunology lab
    • Experience in primary human immune cell isolation, propagation and immune cell-based functional assays is required (e.g. T cells, B cells, myeloid cells, co-culture assays and other primary cell assays)
    • Experience in flow cytometric analysis, measurement of cell surface receptors and proteins by multicolor FACS across different platforms
    • Experience with CRISPR knockdown and basic molecular biology techniques is desired
    • Passion for using high-dimensional (i.e., ‘omics) datasets to understand biological processes; prior experience with analysis of RNAseq or similar data and use of the R programming language (or motivation to learn) is preferred

Around the world, we are passionate about making an impact on the lives of patients with serious diseases. Empowered to apply our individual talents and diverse perspectives in an inclusive culture, our shared values of passion, innovation, urgency, accountability, inclusion and integrity bring out the highest potential of each of our colleagues.
